The Timberline Spartans defeated the Kendrick Tigers with a score of 39 for the Spartans and 34 for the Tigers, in a Class 1A Division II boys’ basketball district loser-out tournament game played Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Timberline.

Rylan Larson was high-scorer for the Spartans with 19 points.

Spartans beat Mustangs 40-39

Chase Hunter and Rylan Larson sealed the deal for the Spartans in the title round game in district playoffs at Deary on Thursday, Feb. 25. The two Timberline players performed a perfect inbounds lob-and-layin with three seconds remaining on the clock, with a score of 40-39.

Hunter shot three 3-pointers and scored 12 points for the Spartans (11-10), who trailed 33-30 before Parker Brown shot a 3 with 5:48 left on the clock.

Timberline beats Deary again

The Spartans battled the Mustangs again on Friday, Feb. 26 on the Mustangs’ court, with the Spartans coming out the winners for the second time in two days. In the winner-take-all Class 1A Division II district championship game, the final score was 51-40.

Timberline sophomore Parker Brown shot a team-high of 15 points and was 8-of-8 at the line, senior Rylan Larson had 12 points and junior Jaron Christopherson had 10 as the Spartans outscored Deary 19-8 in the final period for the victory.

Brown got all eight of his free throws in the fourth, while junior Micah Nelson went 3-of-4 as the Spartans held the Mustangs to a 3-of-17 shooting performance in the fourth.

The Spartans are headed to State for the second consecutive season. They’ll play their first game this Wednesday, March 3, at 7 p.m. MST at Caldwell High School. Fans are limited to 150 per school. Tickets must be purchased on the GoFan ticketing link. Cori Pinque of Timberline Schools has created a Facebook Messenger Chat Group.

The game is scheduled to be livestreamed on the NFHS Network and audio streamed at IdahoSports. Rosters and brackets are available on BAND APP.

Well-wishers came out to the main streets of Pierce and Weippe to show their support of the team as they headed to State playoffs on Tuesday.
