What an awesome day! Thursday, September 26th marked the second annual Spartan Invite hosted by Timberline’s cross country team. This year Carson Sellers took on the task of meet coordinator as his senior project. He did an exceptional job. The 14 teams that joined the Spartans were impressed with the course and the wonderful atmosphere that the Deyo Reservoir provided.
The Timberline runners grabbed all sorts of hardware from this race. Lauren Carr received a medal placing 5th in the high school girls race while running a season’s best time of 24:32. Carson Sellers won the high school boys division with a time of 17:51 and successfully defended his championship crown from last year. Harrison Hill grabbed a medal with a season’s best time of 20:50 (6th place). Finally, Jude Nelson ran a season’s best time of 22:44 while placing 15th.
The junior high boys team did equally well. The team placed 1st! Kyd Bonner at the helm of the team placed 7th, Cody Bird and Reese Merry also received medals placing 8th and 9th. The rest of the Timberline runners were right behind with Landon Burnette in 11th, Ben Lawrence in 12th, and Devyn Sparrow in 13th. Their times ranged from 13:24 to 14:31, a very close spread for the team.
The meet itself was a great time and we would appreciate seeing the community again next year as you come out and support your amazing Spartan runners!
