Joe Sparano stepped up big-time in helping the Maniacs secure their first win of the year, taking down Priest River in a close one 7-6. Joe had several nice runs as he and Kai attacked the Spartan defense out of the option, one shining above the rest as he broke free around the left edge showing off his speed and rumbled his way to the five yard line, setting up the Maniacs’ touchdown.
Sparano then calmly knocked the PAT through the uprights-- which turned out to be the difference in the ballgame.
Maniac Volleyball coach Heidi Summers has chosen to honor Brigid Hill for her overall play last week. Brigid passed the ball well throughout the Pomeroy Tournament and their other games, finishing with seven kills in the Lady Maniacs win over Clearwater Valley Thursday night.
Maniac soccer player Jaden Tilley caught the attention of the coach, Terry Gugger, last week with his exceptional efforts, taking home player of the game honors of his own.
For their fantastic showings on the field (and court), Joe, Jaden and Brigid have all received certificates good for a personal pizza and medium soft drink of their choice from our good friends at the Pizza Factory Orofino!
