Virginia Kaye Rood, 70, went home to be with the Lord September 14, 2020 at her home in Weippe, Idaho, after a brief fight with congestive heart failure.
Memorial services will be held September 19, 2020, 1 p.m. at the Weippe Wesleyan Church at 220 Main St, Weippe, ID 83553. A luncheon will be provided at the IOOF Hall by the Rebekah’s following the services.
Virginia was born July 11, 1950, in Townsend, MT, to Edward A. Hirsch and Edith M. (Cameron) Hirsch. She was raised in Montana and moved to Weippe with her family in the 1960s. She met and married her husband, Fredrick H. Rood in 1971 (39 years), moving to Winchester before making her home in Jerome and raising her family.
Virginia graduated from Weippe High School in 1967 and moved onto college where she graduated with certification as a transcriptionist in 1970 and furthering her knowledge in 2012 as a certified Administrative Assistant. She started her career path in Headquarters working for the forest service. She then worked for many years at Tupperware in Jerome and in 1993, started a trucking company, FVR Transportation, with her husband, Fredrick until his passing in 2010. She moved back to in Weippe in 2017 and was a food handler for the Hilltop Senior Center.
Virginia was a quiet person; a dedicated mother and friend; but she harbored a passionate mama bear instinct for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was active with the Believers Church in Jerome and volunteered her time with many outreaches there.
In Weippe, she enjoyed attending the bible study her son-in-law hosted and became an active member of the Whitepine Rebekah Lodge, helping with many community events. She has travelled from the east coast to the west coast, stopping in all mainland states with her husband at her side. Recently, she fulfilled a lifelong wish to cruise to Alaska and was planning her next to the Bahamas in June; a gift for her 70th birthday.
She was survived by son, Gerrald Rood (wife Sheril) of Jerome; daughter, Michelle Berreth (husband Jason) of Weippe; daughter, Shannon Goldenstein (husband, Raymond) of Umatilla, OR; sister, Glenda Seabrook of Laurel, Montana; 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward A. Hirsch; mother, Edith M. Hirsch; brother, Richard Seabrook; and husband, Fredrick H. Rood.
Pine Hills Funeral of Orofino, Idaho is in charge of the cremation.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Whitepine Rebekah Lodge in Weippe.
