Joyce Howe

Joyce (Aitken) Howe was born November 7, 1958 in Council to Ben and Donita Aitken. Joyce grew up in various locations throughout Idaho including Riggins, Pittsburg Landing on the Snake River, Riddle, Lewiston, Cambridge, Idaho City and Pierce, before the family finally settled in Weippe near Timberline High School where Joyce graduated in 1976.

After high school, Joyce worked for Potlatch Corp. shoveling snow for tree fallers, piling brush, and cleaning creeks. She was also employed as a tree planter by the USFS where she met and married Mike Howe. They were later divorced.

Joyce became the attendant at the AITCO landfill and transfer site where she truly enjoyed visiting with people. She also trimmed and sold Christmas trees for the family tree farm.

Joyce passed away June 20, 2019 at the Ashley Memory Care Center in Kimberly of coronary arrest.

Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Jessy Howe, her father, Ben Aitken, her grandparents, Stewart and Grace Aitken, and Mark and Marie Lawrence.

Joyce is survived by her son, Daniel Howe of Orofino, her mother, Donita Wilson of Lenore, her sister, Shirley Snyder of Lewiston, and her sister, Cheryl (Skip) Shoemake of Riggins.

Joyce was a loving mother and was always willing to help out a friend.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
