Obit--Evelyn Marsh

Evelyn Marsh

Evelyn Marsh passed away on Oct. 10, 2021 to be with Our Lord and Savior, and the love of her life, Robert E. Marsh. This would also mark the fifth year anniversary of Dad’s passing.

Evelyn was born April 2, 1927 to Raymond and Lois Bagley McKinney in Weiser, Idaho. Eighteen months later a little brother, Wilber “Sonny” would join the family.

The family would move to a small town called Orofino in search of work in the mills. Shortly after moving to the area, her mother died in a hunting accident, which resulted in the two children moving back to Weiser to be raised by their mother’s parents.

Evelyn would attend school in Weiser until the 10th grade, then ended up going to work. She would later move back to Orofino where her father and brother lived and worked.

Mom got a job at the local dime store. One night she was downtown with her girlfriends when she spotted some guy spinning “cookies” in the middle of the street. She asked who that “crazy guy” was and they said … Bob Marsh!

The whirlwind romance of four months, saw them married on August 12, 1948. They made their first home in O’Mill, then later bought property in Grangemont to raise Herefords and farm. In the spring they went to buy a tractor for the farm and ended up bringing a daughter home along with a tractor.

They lived in Grangemont until 1970 then sold the farm and bought The Orofino Creamery & Feed Store, which would later be called M Diamond Tack & Feed Store. It was sold in the mid-1980s and they turned into Arizona snowbirds for a short time.

Evelyn was an equal at working with her husband, it didn’t matter if it was manual labor, she would work just as hard. It wasn’t all work though; they played hard also, whether it was horseback riding, camping, fishing, hunting, or four-wheeling.

In their later years the enjoyment was found in spending time with family and loved ones.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her best guy and husband, Robert E. Marsh; brother, Wilber “Sonny” McKinney; her parents, grandparents, many family members and loved ones.

Evelyn is survived by her one and only child, Connie S. Marsh; five grandchildren and their spouses, Kenny Marsh, Lisa Marsh, Catrina (JR) Jenks, Melissa (Jordan) Marsh Delgado, and Craig (Shilo) Marsh; 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Nazarene Church. A graveside service will take place in the summer of 2022. We will notify of the date sometime before the service. The family would appreciate any donations be made to Elite Home Health & Hospice, 1370 Bridge Street, Clarkston, WA, 99403.
