Dottie Lucille Madrigal, 99, of Orofino, ID, passed peacefully Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Brookside Landing.
Born March 14, 1924 in South Dakota to John and Edna Rystrom, the seventh child of nine. She was raised on a farm on the Dakota Plains through the Great Depression. This time in history taught Dottie how to sew, garden and preserve food to get through the leaner times.
Married to William Chapman in January 1947, she welcomed three sons Roger, Roland and later Daniel, who lovingly cared for Dottie through the end of her life, along with his wife Karen. Over the years she proudly welcomed seven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1943. Dottie loyally served her God, Jehovah, pouring her time and energy in the field ministry, right up to the final week of her life. In the last three years Dottie sent hundreds of letters to members of the local community, encouraging all to look into the Bible and the beautiful hope therein. (Rev.21:3,4)
She raised her three boys to serve Jehovah, as a single mom, always grateful for the support of her brother Art. He would happily take Dottie and the boys to conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses each summer.
Dottie married Crespine Madrigal in June 1968. Who was her loyal husband until his death in 2014. Dottie and Crespine resided in Lakewood, WA for the majority of their married life. They were happy to open their home to the congregation by hosting the group for field service for many years. Dottie left her long-time friends in 2016 to be closer to her son Daniel and share her last years with him, here in Orofino, ID.
Dottie is resting peacefully in Jehovah’s memory and her family looks eagerly to the time when we can welcome her back with her back as a beautiful young woman in the Paradise on earth. (Psalm 37: 11 & 29)
Dan and Karen would like to thank all the staff at Brookside Landing for the wonderful care they gave Dottie in her final months. Additionally, the love and support from the congregation during this difficult time. There will be a memorial for Dottie at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 120 Randel Drive Orofino, ID. on May 20, 2023 at 2 p.m.
