David Patrick Bonner, known as Pat, 82, passed away peacefully at his Upper Fords Creek home in Orofino, on Oct. 14, 2020. He was born in Orofino and lived here all his life.
Pat was a logger and worked for several logging companies in the area. He was known for his working abilities and his humor. He was always well liked by the crews he worked with.
In his younger years he loved singing in church, in solos and in a quartet with his wife Shirley, her brother Randy and his wife Georgia. He loved playing the guitar and banjo. This was taken from him by a hunting accident in 1995, this was a real loss for him.
His favorite things to do were camping on the North Fork, fishing, hunting and riding his four-wheeler and side-by-side. Recently he enjoyed making firewood for a hobby.
Pat is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley, at the family home. Also by his children, Jake and Colleen Bonner of Lapwai and Jenni and Terry Bonner of Marysville, WA; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, with two more on the way. The couple also had a son; Brian Patrick, who only lived six days.
Pat also has many cousins, nephews and nieces who all loved him very much.
He had one brother, Fairly Bonner and four sisters: Ethlyn Grasser, Helen Martin, Anita Cady and Joyce Spence. Joyce is the only living sibling.
He was a lifetime member of the Orofino Tabernacle Church and served his church in many ways.
Pat will be greatly missed, but we know he is in a better place and he will want to see you all there.
There will be a memorial service for him at a later date.
