Obit David Lewis

David Lewis

On Nov. 7, 2021, our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at his home in Orofino. He had been lovingly cared for by his wife, Martha, family and many other wonderful people.

Dave was born in Los Angeles, CA, in 1942, to Wayne and Edna Lewis.

Dave was raised, along with his older brother Roger, in Fontana, CA.

Roger and Dave were among the first couple year graduates of the newly built Fontana High School.

Upon graduating from high school, Dave enlisted into the Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

After his service in the Marines he spent a lifetime as a telephone engineer for various telecom companies.

Upon his retirement, Dave decided to move back to Idaho to help and enjoy the rest of his parents’ lives, whom also were retired in Orofino.

Dave’s father, Wayne, was born and raised on a homestead not far from Orofino, up and off of Six Mile Creek.

Not long after his return to his roots in Orofino, Dave met his soon to be wife, Martha, in 2001. Dave and Martha adored the outdoors and would hunt and camp regularly in and around Camp 14 and off of Whiskey Creek Loop Road.

Dave was well known throughout the community of Orofino. He was always happy to see anyone who crossed his path and everyone enjoyed being around him.

Dave was a very humble, grace-filled and loyal husband and family man. Dave brightened the world around him and was a very proud and patriotic man.
