For those interested in beekeeping North 40 at 2981 Thain Grade in Lewiston is sponsoring a Beekeeping Seminar for Beginners with speaker John Freeman, Saturday, March 23 from 1 to 2 p.m.
Honeybees are the major pollinators of U.S. crops, and add about $15 billion a year to the agricultural industry, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s website.
But the number of honeybee colonies has dropped significantly, from 6 million in the 1940s to about 2.5 million today due to environmental stressors, according to the USDA.

Senior lunch menu Thursday is BBQ chicken, rice, vegetable and soup. Monday they will be serving chili, cornbread, with a vegetable and fruit.
The next mobile food pantry is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26 at the Weippe Fire Station. Please bring a box if you have one. Distribution is from 10:30 to 11:30. White Pine Rebekah Lodge of Weippe is in charge of distribution, along with many volunteer helpers.

Wednesday night pool tournament at the Elkhorn produced the following winners; Troy Manz-first, Chick Dillinger-second and Ron Smith Sr.-third. There were 13 players. Friday night winners were Troy Manz-first, Jim Hagele-second and Buck Jared-third. There were again 13 players. They invite any who enjoy pool to show up and play.
Lorraine Elam attended the Garden Club at the Library recently. She said eight people were there; they discussed future projects and decided on a name for the club…it is officially The Dirty Fingers Garden Club. Next meeting is the last Wednesday of the month, March 27, starts at 10:30 a.m.
