Notes from the December Weippe City Council meeting:

Norm Steadman, Ron Larson, Sheila Barteaux, Mel Traylor, Lane Dawson, Levi Blinn, Christina Supak, Minnie West, Steven Schramm - Jub Engineer, David Thomson, and Caralyn McCollum were present.

Steven from Jub Engineers was here to present the award of the bid to RSCI for the wastewater construction bid. Ron Larson made a motion to award the bid to RSCI in the amount of $2,003,827, contingent on Attorney Joe Wright’s contract approval. The anticipated start date is in Mid-May.

Minnie West and Christina Supak were here to talk about the Rebekah Lodge’s water bill. They would like to see the water bill reduced as the Rebekah’s are a nonprofit community organization and use the building only twice a month. The council could not make a decision at this meeting but this request will be put on the next council meeting in January.

Lane, Dog Catcher for the city, stated that there were no complaints this month.

Levi, Clearwater County Sheriff’s Dept., stated that there are still thefts being reported around town and there have been vehicle accidents because of the weather.

The application for the 8th street culvert on Grasshopper Creek is due. Chris St. Germaine and Don Gardner have been working on this application.

The menu at the Senior Center for Thursday, Jan. 10 is German sausage and sauerkraut with potatoes, soup and fruit. Next Monday, Jan. 14 they will be serving hamburger gravy over potatoes with a vegetable, salad and fruit.

The pool tournament at the Elkhorn last Wednesday ended with Buck Jared being first, Jim Hagele second and Ed Dobson third. There were 15 players vying to place.

A new opportunity! A Garden Club is starting in town and will meet at the Weippe Library. The first meeting will be Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is invited. Come share your expertise and learn new gardening skills.
