Due to the significant loss of homes and property caused by the Whitetail Loop fire on Sunday, Aug. 30 and the more recent Sunnyside Complex Fire (Clover and MM49) on Monday, Sept. 7, Harold Kinne VFW Post 3296 has established an account at Lewis Clark Credit Union to help the victims of these devastating fires.

Post 3296 has made a sizable donation to this account and is asking the community to please dig deep to help our less fortunate neighbors in their time of need.

Donations may be dropped off at the LCCU branch in Orofino at 234 Johnson Avenue under the “VFW Fire 13” account or at any LCCU branch in the Lewis and Clark Valley.

Donations may also be dropped off at Harold Kinne VFW Post 3296 at 330 Michigan Avenue between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Post 3296 through the VFW District Commander has also reached out to the State VFW and all statewide VFW Posts and American Legion Posts to do anything they can to help with this effort.

The combined fires have burned over 3,000 acres with at least 15 homes, 33 structures and 26 vehicles destroyed.

Fortunately no fatalities have occurred.

Fire victims in need of assistance may contact Harold Kinne VFW Post 3296 in Orofino or call 208-476-4117.
