Come and join us for Orofino Chamber of Commerce’s All American 4th of July Celebration next Thursday, July 4. Before the fireworks show you can start your day off with the Orofino Community Float. This is not an organized event, just bring your life jacket, kick back, relax, and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the Clearwater River.
Beginning at 5 p.m., the Orofino Rotarians will kick off the festivities at the Orofino City Park by serving up some All American BBQ treats. The money from the BBQ goes into their general fund, so they can continue to support the community through foreign exchange students (both inbound and outbound) RYLA, Christmas for Kids, Lifeline Food Bank, Dirty Hands Projects and many more. During the BBQ they will be selling their 20th annual Rotary Log Drive Tickets.
The Log Drive and Log Drive winner will be announced at a later date. Proceeds from the sale of their log drive tickets goes to their scholarship program. This year they will be giving away four $2,500.00 scholarships to graduating students of our district; all because of the support of the community.
The V.F.W. Color Guard will be presenting colors at 5 p.m. honoring all our Veterans, and Gwen Hutchinson, a freshman at Orofino High School, will be singing the National Anthem.
Also kicking off at 5 p.m. is the first Annual 4th of July Talent Show. We want to bring something new to the All American Celebration, and this is an opportunity for everyone to get involved. The Talent Show is open to groups, individuals and even family acts.
We are calling all singers, dancers, poets, musicians, comedians, magicians, gymnasts, artists, crafters, or anyone else who has talent to participate in this show. Everything presented must be family friendly, clean and appropriate for all ages. The talent show is for every one of all ages and is free.
Participants will have the chance to win prizes during the show. If you are interested, have questions, or want to sign up, you can do so by calling the chamber office at 208-476-4335, stop by the chamber at 125 Johnson Ave. Suite #7 or visit our website for the sign-up form at www.orofino.com. The Talent Show must have a minimum of five participants for the show to go on. The sign-up deadline is July 1, by 5 p.m.
Throughout the evening, our OCI Royalty will be selling mini American Flags and glow in the dark necklaces. The proceeds will go back into our fireworks funds.
Shania Rales, a local musician, will provide FREE LIVE MUSIC beginning at 7 p.m. Shania has been playing music since she was 10 years old and loves coming back to Orofino to perform. Bring your lawn chair or throw down a blanket and enjoy the entertainment.
At 10:10 p.m. the fireworks show will begin. The fireworks will be shot from the Orofino City Park over the beautiful Clearwater River!
