The 2020 Clearwater County 4-H Horse Show was held on August 22nd at the Weippe Rodeo Grounds. We send a huge shout out to the Weippe Rodeo Association for letting us use their grounds and for having great hamburgers for our lunch. The show started with the presentation of flags. Ella Goetz, president of the Red, White and Boots 4-H Horse group led with the American flag. Vice President, Jenna Smathers, presented the 4-H flag. Events followed starting with Showmanship.

Horse Show events:

Showmanship – Senior showman – Alia Coil-Defoe with Lopes-a-lot with a Blue, Best in Class. Intermediate showman – Jil Brown-Loeschner with Kaycee (Blue), Lily Feldman with Jake (Red), Jenna Smathers with Misty (Red), Ava Goetz with Mouse (Blue, Reserve in Class), Ella Goetz with Snickers (Blue, Best of Class). Junior showman – Makadee Larson with Chevy with a Blue, Best in Class.

Overall Showman: Grand Champion Showman: Ava Goetz with Mouse; Reserve Champion Showman: Makadee Larson with Chevy.

Nervous Novice Western Equitation: Jenna Smathers on Misty, Blue Best of Class.

Western Equitation: Intermediate: Ava Goetz on Mouse, red; Ella Goetz on Snickers, red; Lily Feldman on Jake, Blue Best in Class. Junior: Makadee Larson on Chevy, red.

Trail – Intermediates: Lily Feldman on Jake, red; Ella Goetz on Snickers, red; Jenna Smathers on Misty, red; Ava Goetz on Mouse, Blue Best in Class.

In-Hand Trail: Alia Coil-Defoe with Lopes-a-lot, red; Jil Brown-Loeschner with Kaycee, Blue Best in Class.

Western Ranch Horse Classes:

Ground Roping: First place Ava Goetz, tying for second place were Ella Goetz and Makadee Larson.

Track the Tracker – First place Makadee Larson on Chevy

Control that Cow – First place Ella Goetz on Snickers, second place Makadee Larson on Chevy, third place Lily Feldman on Jake.

Sort me Out – First place Makadee Larson on Chevy, tying for second place were Ella Goetz on Snickers and Lily Feldman on Jake.

The 4-H Livestock Auction will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Orofino City Park Outdoor Arena. The barn will be open for animal viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. that morning.
