Bob Hyde, born in 1930, came to Idaho approximately 70 years ago from Missouri. He first worked for Potlatch Inc., then as a timber faller for local loggers. Bob retired in 1995.

He married Marlene Minden in 1956. They have been married 61 years, having four children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family settled in Weippe in 1964. Bob loved small town life, the North Fork, backpacking cross country skiing, hunting and fishing. He volunteered and was active in rebuilding the community center, cleanup days, housing association, Hilltop Drug/Alcohol Coalition and the Gem Community organization.

The Hydes moved to Lewiston in 2006 where Bob continues to remain healthy. He makes pies, cobblers and homemade soups.

He will celebrate with friends and family on his birthday weekend.
