Winter has certainly settled in this past week. With the cold temperatures comes facility challenges. We are currently having difficulties getting heat in our gymnasiums at OES and OJSHS.  This is due to supply shortages, contractor delays and unforeseen electrical challenges.

We are working on getting the issue resolved as soon as possible.  In the meantime we will adapt as necessary to continue events as scheduled as best we can.

The board of trustees held a short meeting on Dec. 22 to discuss the Timberline classroom build bids. The meeting resulted in accepting the low bid from Mangum Construction.

When completed this new construction will place all of our students under a built structure and out of portable classrooms.

We are redesigning our maintenance department very soon.  We will be looking for a Maintenance Director who is capable of organizing and coordinating projects along with performing maintenance on our facilities district wide.

We will also be looking for an Assistant Maintenance director who will be working alongside the director to perform maintenance on facilities district wide.

Our goal is to get ahead of the maintenance issues as much as possible and get to a point of preventative maintenance in place of reactionary maintenance.

We are still looking for bus drivers.  We have a potential position at the Timberline school.  Please contact Derrik Larson, Transportation Director with any inquiries.

The district is also working on designing and implementing a credit recovery/alternative support for struggling students.  The program will evolve to meet the needs of our students and will take place outside of regular school hours. Most likely beginning with Friday school sessions and after school programs.

We are still in the process of assessing the needs of our students to determine the correct response for each school.

As you can see there are loads of new and student focused happenings in the district along with the normal school excitement!

I will keep you posted of the developments as we move into the new year.
