With the generous support from Dworshak Recreation District, the Pierce Pool will be offering transportation to swim lessons for children ages six and over from the Orofino area this June! Dworshak Rec has agreed to provide transportation for the kids from Orofino to the Pierce pool for the 2 week daily lessons.

Lessons will be held Monday-Friday the weeks of June 17-21 and June 24-28. The bus ride is FREE and the lessons will be $100 for one week or $175 for the two weeks (there is a 25% discount for multiple siblings).

Children will board the bus between 7-7:30 a.m. and arrive for lessons by 8:30 a.m. Lessons are only a ½ hour each day for different age/skill level. After (or before, depending on lesson time) the Orofino group of kids will be served breakfast and have supervised playtime on the Community Center side of the building which includes the gym and game room.

Weather permitting we will make a couple supervised trips across the street to the playpark too! Kids will board the bus after the final lessons of the day and be returned to the drop-off/pick-up locations at IGA in downtown Orofino and Harvest Foods on Riverside between 12:30 and 1 p.m.

In order to provide this program we will need a minimum of 20 kids to be signed up and will only be taking a total of 40 kids. We will be taking names for the sign up and will send out paperwork that must be filled out and returned with payment no later than May 31 in order to participate. Again, with our Pool Rules we can only provide this for kids ages six and over.

Dworshak Recreation District will still be providing the FREE Swim Bus on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s starting on Tuesday, June 11th. The bus leaves IGA at 11:30 a.m., Harvest Foods at 11:45 a.m. and MaryAnn’s Grocery in Weippe at 12:30 p.m. arriving in time for the 1-4 p.m. Open Swim and returning to the drop-off/pick-up points. Kids must provide a phone number where a parent can be reached upon boarding the bus! The ride to the Pool is free and open to kids six and over and this includes adults. The cost to get into the Pool is still just $2.50 for kids 6-12 and $3 for those 13 and over.

Kids will need to bring a towel, goggles if they like to wear them, a lifejacket with name on it if they are more comfortable in the water this way and snacks or snack money…kids get very hungry when swimming! On Bus days we try and provide something more than just candy and chips for the kids to buy.

If you would like to send money with your kids for snacks, we can take the money and make them a snack “credit card” so that the kids don’t have to carry money on their person. Also we discourage bringing anything of real monetary value but if the kids have a phone or something else we can keep that in the office while they swim.

Please call Jennifer Billups at the Pierce Community Center & Pool (208)464-2443 to get your name on the list and registration forms sent to you.

The Weippe Recreation District has been kind enough to offer their residents FREE swimming and ½ price Swim Lessons again this year! You must be signed up and verified that you are in the district boundaries. And once at the Pool, sign in with us on the Weippe Resident Sheet so that the Pool can be reimbursed.

For our local Pierce residents we offer $50 swim passes for kids 6-12 years old, $55 passes for those 13 and over, $100 Family of 4 Passes ($15 for each additional member) and $55 Adult Lap Swim Passes. Swim Lessons will be $50 for 1 week and $70 for the 2 weeks with a 25% discount for multiple siblings (Weippe residents are 1/2 off).

For more information or to get your name on the list for swim lessons please call Jennifer Billups or Samantha Shaw at the Pierce Community Center & Pool at (208)464-2443 and we will be happy to help you!
