Get your homemade salsa ready! We will be holding our Pool Fundraiser this Saturday, May 4th (to coincide with the GEM Teams Pierce Community Day and Clean UP) We will be serving yummy Nachos ($8) and holding a Silent Auction and also new this year, we will be having a Salsa Contest...not the dance!

The “Any Way You Like It” is a Homemade Salsa Contest.

We will serving Nachos from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and the winners of the Salsa Contest will be announce just before the last call for bids on our Silent Auction at 1:30 p.m.!

Salsa and the $5 entry fee for each entry (you can enter more than 1 kind) must be turned into the Community Center by 6 p.m. Friday, May 3. We will not be taking any entries on Saturday.

If you have an item you would like to donate to the Silent Auction please drop it off at the Community Center this week from 3-8 p.m. or give us a call to make arrangements for pick-up. Come enjoy a great lunch, share some fun and laughter and maybe go home with some cool new items all while supporting our community Pool, the local children’s summer destination!

Timberline High School will be holding their Prom this Saturday, May 4! The Grand March will be at 5:45 p.m. at the Weippe Community Center if you would like to come and get a quick peek at the kids all dressed up for their special night.

Pierce/Weippe ATV Trailriders will hold their Annual Mother’s Day Ride on Saturday, May 11th! Pre-Registration is also happening on Friday, the 10th from 6-8 p.m. at the Market in Pierce. If you pre-register all you have to do the morning of the ride is stop in at Check Point #1 and hit the trails! Saturday sign ups start at 9 a.m. at the Market (S & S Foods).

The Rebekahs are pre-selling tickets for their Mother’s Day Brunch being held on Sunday, May 12 from 9-11 a.m. at the White Pine Rebekah Lodge in Weippe. They will be serving Quiche, hash browns, fresh fruit, coffee, tea or orange juice. Cost is $10 per person, children under 12 are $7. Get your tickets early and treat Mom to brunch!

Swim Lessons!

The Pierce Pool will be offering Swim Lessons the last two weeks of June (Monday-Friday) the 17th-28th. Lessons will be $50 for one week or $70 for the two weeks. There is a 25% discount off of multiple siblings. Lessons are a half an hour each day. If you live in the Weippe Recreation District please look for the sign up at either Timberline Schools or the Discovery Center for FREE Swim and half price Swim Lessons!

You must be verified as living in the district and on the list to qualify. And if you have signed up on the Weippe list, you must still call the Pierce Community Center to sign up for Swim Lessons! Please call (208)464-2443 to get on the list and for more information.

Pierce Community Day!

Hello from the Pierce GEM Team! Your organization is cordially invited to Pierce Community Day, Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Pierce Community Center. The purpose of this event is to acquaint citizens and visitors alike to the vast array of services in the Pierce-Weippe area (the ‘Hilltop’).

The event is free of charge; just bring a table, chairs and/or canopy and set up in the Community Center parking lot. Set-up should take place between 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Bring banners, information, any hand-outs you may have and anything that can inform people of your organization.

This event is in conjunction with Pierce Clean-Up Day, and also the Pierce Pool fundraiser – which will be a nacho feed, salsa tasting contest, and a silent auction, all at Pierce Community Center 11 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be so much going on. Idaho Youth ChalleNGe Academy (IDYCA) The Cadets are working hard and getting closer to their end goal in completing the 22 week IDYCA program. They are also busy lending a helping hand in many projects around the region. Their service is greatly appreciated and really makes a difference. Thank you!

Home Pass will be happening over the Memorial Day weekend, Thursday, May 23-28.

Pool Tournaments: Tournaments are open to the public and will be held on Thursday nights at Miss Lily’s, Friday night at The Flame and Saturday nights at the Timber Inn starting at 6 p.m. bar time. Come and have some fun with us! Results for last week were; Thursday 4/25, Kathy Wilson-Dill 1st place, Carlyle Cahala 2nd and George Shoup took 3rd. Kathy says “thanks guys for letting me win”. They all had a great time at Miss Lily’s!

The Flame, Friday 4/26, Carlyle Cahala 1st place, Kathy Wilson-Dill 2nd and Def Dave took 3rd. Awesome playing guys! What happened Alan Mee? Was it the table, the stick or you just didn’t like that 8 ball? Well at least you weren’t the 1st one out but you made it to the 2nd one! The Timber Inn, Saturday 4/27 results; Def Dave 1st place, Erica Marie DeFilippo 2nd and George Shoup took 3rd. Talk about some lucky games last night. Good job players!

Pierce Community Center and Pool News; IDYCA Cadets will be getting a little gym time in here at the Center while their gym floor is being repaired after a flooding incident at the Academy. The Center will be open from 3-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 1-6 p.m. on Fridays unless we have skating or an event planned. On Mondays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. we have Yoga classes.
