Pool update

The Pool is open and we are starting to warm back up! We finished our first week of swim lessons (those kids, the instructor and the lifeguards were troopers) and chose to move the second week of lessons to July 8-12 so that the pool would have time to warm up. We are still taking sign-ups for the second week of lessons.

The Pierce/Weippe ATV Trailriders are holding a ride this Saturday, June 29. Let’s make this another big turnout! The ATV Club has tickets for their Hill Top Food Pantry Raffle at The Timber Inn, Miss Lily’s Gold Rush Saloon, Pierce Hardware Store (where the display is set up) and with Kathy Wilson-Dill, then they also have tickets at Arnzen’s Glenwood Pharmacy in Orofino, (thank you Rod and Cathy).

This year we are raffling off a camping package worth over $300. The drawing will be held on Saturday of 1860 days and 1 winner will win everything. You do not need to be present to win, so please help us raise the money to get our building built so we can start helping the families up here on the hill.

GEM will be meeting Tuesday, July 2 at 6 p.m. at the Pierce Community Center. If you would like to join in planning future town projects, please feel free to join them.

1860 Days! The committee is working hard and getting things planned for this year’s Annual 1860 Days celebration which will be held the first weekend in August, 2-4.

They are taking early sign-ups for the “King of the Hill Firewood Derby” which is being sponsored by ICCU, Empire Lumber of Weippe, Clearwater Saw Sales of Pierce and 1860 Days. This is a three-man contest where each team will buck, split and stack the firewood.

They will only be excepting 15 teams so get your team together, maybe find a sponsor and get signed up! First place, each team member will receive a MS311 Stihl Chainsaw with a 25” bar. Second place, each team member will receive a splitting maul, fallers axe and wedges.

All participants will receive a Stihl hat and mix oil. There is a $75 team entry fee and you may sign up at Clearwater Saw Sales or ICCU White Pine Branch. All firewood will be auctioned off after the event.

If you would like to get involved with helping with one of the many events, parade or to be a vendor please contact a committee member or call Pierce Community Center (208)464-2443.
