Wishing everyone a safe and happy 4th of July Weekend!

Sunday, July 7 at 2 p.m., the historical Our Lady of the Woodland Catholic Church in Pierce Idaho will reopen with Mass being said at 2 p.m.

Forty riders from the Christian Motorcycle of America Club came to Pierce on Sunday, June 30 to attend the service at New Life Fellowship Church followed by a fabulous potluck at the park. The food was good and the weather was perfect!

The Pool will be closed Thursday and Friday, July 4-5 for the Holiday weekend. We will start our second week of Swim Lessons on Monday, July 8-12. Linda Turrill will be offering an Adult Water Aerobics Class from 7:30 a.m.-8 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 9-11 and 16-18. Cost will be $12 for all six classes or use your pass!

The Pool schedule will offer Adult Lap Swim (M-F) from 6-8 a.m. (doors lock at 7:30 a.m.) Open Swim (M-F) 1-4 p.m. and Evening Swim on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6-8 p.m.

Cost to swim is still just $2.50 for kids ages 6-12 and $3 for those 13 and over. Children five and under are free but MUST be accompanied by a paying ADULT (not teenage siblings). There are only six weeks left of our Pool Season so don’t wait to come join in the fun!

The “Six Days of Fun” are over. The community celebration for the 100th birthday of the Pierce Public Library has come to a close. Quite a celebration it was with cupcakes, cupcakes, and more cupcakes. The winners of the competitive events are enjoying their $50.

The winners of the three events were, Meredith Rowland and Jude Nelson for the essay contest. Meredith Rowland again, for the “Shelfie” photo contest. Nice handstand Meredith! Lisa Goodrich was the closest to guess how many books were in the library. The answer was 11,937! And the community donated 31 new books to the library with the Idaho Central Credit Union matching.

Thanks to our director, Kim Ward, the assistant librarian, Susie Fitzwater, and the local library board of directors for their part in helping to organize the six days of fun!

It was fun! Thank you to all who participated!

The Pierce/Weippe Atv Trailriders held their June ride last Saturday, June 29 and had an amazing turnout! 162 riders, 325 hands and 35 new memberships for the club! Many people were talking about how great the trail was for this ride and the weather was wonderful.

The club would like to thank all the volunteers that helped with everything that was needed. Thank you to Miss Lily’s for their donation of the parking lot and the gift certificate. Thank you to The Timber Inn for their steak donation and the .25 off of any drinks. Thank you to The Market for letting the riders use the parking lots and thank you to those folks who donated their winnings back to the Food Bank Building Fund and would also like to acknowledge the large group that travels over from the Hermiston, Oregon Funrunners Club. We always enjoy having them!

A special thank you to Ben and Joni Johnson with High Country Surveying for the donation of burgers and dogs and Bill Hackney with his great BBQ and cooking skills! They raised $370 for the Food Bank Fund. The next ride will be Saturday, August 3 during 1860 Days. Hope to see you all there!

GEM will be meeting Tuesday, July 2 at 6 p.m. at the Pierce Community Center. If you would like to join in planning future town projects, please feel free to join them.
