A Celebration of Life will be held for Reid Mintonye of Pierce this Friday, April 26 from 1-4 p.m. at the Pierce Community Center. The VFW Post 3296 of Orofino Color Guard will be starting out with a Flag Ceremony and a 21 Gun Salute in the parking lot at 1 p.m. so please plan on arriving a little early if you would like to be a part of this special tribute to our Veteran friend.

There will be a potluck so bring your favorite dish, a story to tell, maybe a cooler and come gather with friends and family as we remember and celebrate our sweet Reido.

Swim Lessons!

The Pierce Pool will be offering Swim Lessons the last two weeks of June (Monday-Friday) the 17-28. Lessons will be $50 for one week or $70 for the two weeks. There is a 25% discount off of multiple siblings. Lessons are a half hour each day. If you live in the Weippe Recreation District please look for the sign up at either Timberline Schools or the Discovery Center for FREE Swim and half price Swim Lessons!

You must be verified as living in the district and on the list to qualify. And if you have signed up on the Weippe list, you must still call the Pierce Community Center to sign up for Swim Lessons! Please call (208) 464-2443 to get on the list and for more information.

Masquerade Ball

Masquerade Ball will be held on Saturday, April 27 at Miss Lily’s Gold Rush Saloon from 8-11p.m. We will have the same (or more) fun and as always it will be 21 and over only. First drink will be free and horderves available. The bar and limited kitchen items will be open for purchase as well. $35 per couple for entry to benefit the community as always!

Pierce Community Day!

Hello from the Pierce GEM Team! Your organization is cordially invited to Pierce Community Day, Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Pierce Community Center. The purpose of this event is to acquaint citizens and visitors alike to the vast array of services in the Pierce-Weippe area (the ‘Hilltop’).

The event is free of charge; just bring a table, chairs and/or canopy and set up in the Community Center parking lot. Set-up should take place between 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. Bring banners, information and hand-outs may have and anything that can inform people of your organization.

This event is in conjunction with Pierce Clean-Up Day, and also the Pierce Pool fundraiser – which will be a nacho feed, salsa tasting contest, and a silent auction, all at Pierce Community Center 11 a.m. -2 p.m. There will be so much going on; you will want to be there for your group! Pierce/Weippe ATV Trailriders

Pierce/Weippe ATV trailriders will hold their Annual Mother’s Day Ride on Saturday, May 11! Pre-Registration is also happening on Friday, May 10 from 6 -8 p.m. at the Market in Pierce. If you pre-register all you have to do the morning of the ride is stop in at Check Point #1 and hit the trails! Saturday sign ups start at 9 a.m. at the Market (S & S Foods).

Idaho Youth ChalleNGe Academy (IDYCA)

Home Pass will be happening over the Memorial Day weekend, Thursday, May 23-28.

The Cadets will be doing some of their PT time at the Pierce Community Center after a flood in the building caused damage to the Academy’s gym floor. They will be making repairs soon.

Letters of encouragement are always welcome and they will be passed on to those cadets that may not receive mail from home. Just address your letters to: Any Cadet at the address listed below or if you are interested in mentoring a future cadet please contact the Academy at IDYCA, 117 Timberline Drive, Pierce, ID 83546.

Pool Tournaments:

Tournaments are open to the public and will be held on Thursday nights at Miss Lily’s, Friday night at The Flame and Saturday nights at the Timber Inn starting at 6 p.m. bar time. Come and have some fun with us! Results for last week were; Thursday 4/18, Bucky Jared 1st place, Matthew Hagele 2nd and Clay Hosley 3rd. Well done guys!

The Flame, Friday 4/19, Mike Crocker 1st place, Carlyle Cahala 2nd and Kathy Wilson-Dill 3rd. Great night at the Flame!

The Timber Inn, Saturday 4/20 results; Kerrie Willis- Crocker took 1st place, Def Dave 2nd and Mike Crocker 3rd. Kerrie you earned that title last night. That was some awesome playing!

Pierce Community Center and Pool News

We will be holding our Pool Fundraiser on Saturday, May 4 (to coincide with the GEM Teams Pierce Community Day and Clean Up) We will be holding a Nacho Feed ($8), Silent Auction and, new this year, we will be having a Salsa Contest...not the dance!

The “Any Way You Like It” Homemade Salsa Contest. We will serve nachos from 11 a.m. -2 p.m. and the winners of the Salsa Contest will be announced just before the last call for bids on our Silent Auction. Salsa and the $5 entry fee for each entry (you can enter more than 1 kind) must be turned into the Community Center by 6 p.m. Friday, May 3. We will not be taking any entries on Saturday. Judo will be Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6–7 p.m. IDYCA Cadets will be getting a little gym time in here at the Center while their gym floor is being repaired after a flooding incident at the Academy. The Center will be open from 3-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 1-6 p.m. on Fridays unless we have skating or an event planned.

On Mondays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. we have Yoga classes. If you have a meeting, event or party you would like to plan please call ahead for scheduling. We have lots of room, tables, chairs and kitchen facilities to meet your needs. Please call (208)464-2443 for questions or information.
