42 hilltop kids paint the six foot cake to kick off the 100 year celebration of the Pierce Public Library.

The residents of the City of Pierce will be enjoying “Six Days of Fun”, Monday through Saturday, June 17 - 22, to celebrate the 100th birthday of The Pierce Public Library.

The students in the picture are celebrating with the help of Timberline Librarian, Billi Cooper, beginning their short essays that they will enter into a contest entitled “A book I Really Enjoyed and Why”. The essays are due Wednesday, June 19 at the library by 3. There are two categories, grades 3-6 and grade 7 - adult. There is a $50 prize for each category provided by the Idaho Central Credit Union.

Some of the other events going on are Painting a 6 foot cake at Studio 205 , making a creative bookmark at Elk Snout, guessing how many books are in the library, with the winner also receiving $50. Another event is one can take a “Shelfie” of themselves and a book or books (emailed to kward@piercepubliclibrary for another chance at winning $50.

Finally, a guest speaker, Eilene Lyon from Durango CO, who is writing a biography on E.D. Pierce. This takes place, Saturday, June 22, 4 p.m., at Studio 205, Main Street.

To top it all off, during the week, the ICCU will be matching the price of any book on the library list that is donated.

The week will come quickly, so now is the time to make use of all that is offered for the six days. This will not take place again until the year 2119.
