Dear Editor:

We know that our Sheriff is sworn to defend the U.S. Constitution, enforce local/State law and execute the processes and writs of the courts.

In small town rural America, like Orofino, the Sheriff is more than a list of paper qualifications, experience and specialized training. He has a face and active presence in the community. He must be evaluated and elected on performance rather than marketing. We have such a Sheriff; Chris Goetz is running for re-election.

For 22 years, Chris has demonstrated his commitment to Orofino and the County. He has provided a positive role model while raising his family here. Aside from being the chief law enforcement officer, he is involved in the Weippe Rodeo, numerous 4-H projects and County Fair livestock sales. He is a fire district volunteer. He works with our youth via an advisory group with the School Superintendent.

In addition, professional peers have recognized his leadership and performance in the Idaho Sheriff’s Association. He was voted Outstanding Elected Official and respected for his “incident management” skills.

Chris Goetz is more than an elected Sheriff. His conduct proves that he is a dedicated citizen and asset to our community. Re-elect Sheriff Chris Goetz.
