Dear Editor,

You know me – I am your friend, your neighbor, your co-worker. Now I am sharing my story of COVID, recently hospitalized at Clearwater Valley Hospital for 5 days, sitting in total isolation praying in the darkness that the meds and oxygen will work and I won’t have to go on a ventilator.

There is no “CURE” for COVID, no upscale hospital in a big city with tons of medical equipment is going to make a darn bit of difference in whether you live or die. My doctors at Clearwater Valley, Dr. Charity Robinson and Dr. Jennifer Johnston and my team of nurses – Andrew, Cameron and Matthew went above and beyond to make sure I had the best care available. They understood how heavy my heart was at being cut off from family and friends and how scared I was. I know the care I received not only saved my life, but I would likely have not had such individual treatment in a “big city” setting.

Yes, I was wearing a mask, practicing social distancing, etc., and I still got it as it is more contagious than you think. Whether you wear a mask or not is up to you, think it’s a hoax or being “exaggerated,” it’s not – remember my face and in an instant you can be alone and scared in the darkness too.
