I’m supporting Tom Stroschein for Idaho State Representative for District 2B, which includes all of Clearwater County. 2B also includes all or part of 4 other counties, and extends north to Bonner County! I met Tom many years ago when we were both serving as county commissioners and worked on several regional boards together. I knew right away Tom was someone special.
As Tom would say “To have a democracy, we need two parties who can offer different perspectives. I have been a life-long Idaho Democrat because of my long-standing belief that it requires consolidated resources to sustain our rural communities and lifestyle. Our job, as legislators, is to implement policy to its ultimate end, to provide and improve resources to the benefit of all Idaho citizens. In my district, that means first and foremost, to fortify the Idaho Public Education system.
We need to stop over-burdening property taxes in small rural school districts with annual mill levy overrides. We need to maintain long-term sustainability in our natural resources that provide an economic base to our rural communities, particularly agriculture, timber, and mining.
Finally, we need to fortify behavior health programs like Idaho Crisis and Recovery Centers to combat drug and alcohol abuse. To the other social issues being touted by extremists, let the local government entities and boards do their jobs. This includes county government, city councils, school boards, health boards, and library boards.”
Please join me in voting for Tom Stroschein.
