Dear Editor:

The first North Idaho Whitetail Forever (NIWF) fundraiser was extremely successful in raising money to send members to Boise. We found that testifying before the Board of Commissioners is the only sure way to achieve changes with Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG). By going to Boise, members will represent a “collective voice” for the Clearwater Region.

We have sent a loud and clear message that changes have been long overdue for reducing extremely long seasons and harvesting too many animals. The Board of Commissioners has already voted 7 to 0 on updating the whitetail management plan (15 years out of date) and the upland bird management plan (29 years out of date).

A special THANK YOU is offered to the following: Andre Molsee (Deary Chapter) for organizing a Chapter in the Deary/Elk River area and donating several items to the auction, Paul Snider/Lonnie Gehring (Lewiston Chapter) for organizing a Chapter in Lewiston and coordinating a very large sale of gun raffle tickets, Rick Carver (Orofino Chapter) for coordinating a very large sale of gun raffle tickets, Brad Chance (Lewiston area) for being the “top gun raffle salesman” and finally to Harley Sharrard (Stites area) for driving all the way to be the emcee host of the event.

NIWF wants to THANK all of these people for their efforts in making the evening a success. Thank you to all who participated in some way.
