Dear Editor,

I am supporting Don Gardner for Clearwater County Commissioner. Most candidates that get elected take up the first couple of years to get comfortable with that position.

Don Gardner is very familiar with the way the County operates. He has been Clearwater County’s Emergency Management Coordinator for the last 15 years.

Don has responded to many disasters/emergencies in the county. He has made many contacts and worked with other state, federal and county agencies over the years. Don Gardner has served on the Orofino Fire Department for 18 years and was on the Orofino City council for eight years where he also served as Mayor Pro Tem for many of those years.

We need someone that, when elected, will be able to dedicate themselves completely to the Commissioner position. The county has already been down that road when a commissioner is holding one job and trying to attend not only the regular commissioner meetings, but all the extra meeting during the week in town and out of town. It has not gone well.

When elected, Don will terminate his Emergency Management position and dedicate himself completely to being a Clearwater County Commissioner.

Don is very familiar with communications. He would like to help improve the areas broadband internet capacity. This would be such a great support for our schools and businesses, from manufacturing to home based enterprises.

Over the years I have attended many Orofino City Council and Clearwater County Commissioner meetings. I truly feel that Don Gardner would be a great asset to the Clearwater County Commissioners.
