The temperature during the daylight hours has started to cool down. The Fraser area had a high of 59 degrees on Saturday, Oct. 9. The rest of the week 54 was as warm as it got.

On Monday, Oct. 11, the night time temperature dropped to 33 degrees. The NOAA weather forecast is for hard frost for the rest of the week, which sent a warning to harvest any vegetables as Jack Frost is planning to visit.

We woke up to heavy fog on Thursday, it rained on Friday and on the following Sunday. We really appreciate the moisture after a very dry summer.

We have been busy processing the tomatoes into juice and making firewood.

Steve shared the videos of a splitter purchased from Leman Stuart with the Tuesday morning group at the Ponderosa Restaurant.

Dennis Thompson remembered Leman and shared that he had sold him several vehicles when he was still in business.

In 2001 Leman had advertised the sale of the splitter in the classified ads in the Clearwater Tribune. We purchased it and have used it each year to make firewood.

Over the years, Steve has made some changes to the original design, which improved the overall function of the unit. He sent the same videos to his brother, Greg, in Columbia, CT, so he could see how the splitter worked.

Greg planned to share the videos with some of his friends. It probably will end up the talk of the area as it is a “one of a kind”, a real Rube Goldberg machine.

Just thinking about Leman and Goldie brought back some great memories.

On Monday, Oct. 11, the members of the Alpha Omicron Sorority met at the Fraser Cemetery to place a yellow rose at the headstones of two members that have passed away; Oreta Stuart and Jean Hicks.

Donna Brown was the hostess for this meeting and invited me to meet the members and take a picture for this article.

President Kathy Waldron spoke about Oreta’s dedication to the Sorority and Cheyl Stenzel led everyone in prayer. The group then gathered at the Fraser Community Center for their monthly meeting.

Halloween is coming up at the end of the month.

Breyer Boyer has chosen “Trial of Terror” as her Senior Project. It will take place on Friday, Oct. 29, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Clearwater County Fair Exhibit Building.

Last year, her brother Macoy called his Senior Project “Dooms Day Haunted House”. He donated the proceeds from the project to the Shriners organization. Good luck Breyer.

The 4-H Achievement Night for the Fraser 4-H Boosters Club will be held on Nov. 1, at 6 p.m., at the Fraser Community Center. The members will receive their awards and checks from the livestock auction.

Happy Birthday Greetings go out to Danny Brown on Oct. 14, to Nicole Jared on Oct. 16, and to Quentin Harris on Oct. 18. Sherry and Larry Schlader send Happy Birthday Greetings to their daughter Heather Haworth on Oct. 19.
