The First Baptist Church and other churches around the world are packing shoeboxes for children in need around the globe. It is organized by Samaritan’s Purse headed up by Franklin Graham, president, and has collected more than 168 million shoeboxes throughout the years.
The boxes are packed with toys and other fun items for boys and girls to open and many receive Christ as their Savior as a result. Many enroll in classes called The Greatest Journey to learn more. Gospel booklets called The Greatest Gift are handed out. Communities are transformed!
Please call Carol at 208-816-1410 or the church at 208-476-5412 to pick up your shoebox or give a donation for others to pack for you. The final date is Nov. 17 in which we’re going to have a packing party!
Operation Christmas Child is a great mission project for everyone and is headed up by the local community in this effort. 1 p.m. is the time on Sunday to pack! We will have a community potluck on that day so come and pack, but more importantly, please bring items or money to fill 95 shoeboxes.
An outfit, shoes, a stuffed animal, a doll, toy cars, jump ropes, yo-yos, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, flashlights, toothpaste, washcloths, combs, pens, pencils and other school supplies, hair bows, and finger puppets are all items to pack in the shoeboxes.
Do not include candy, toothpaste, war-related items, chocolate or food, fruit rolls or other fruit snacks, drink mixes, lotions or breakable items or aerosol cans.
Visit samaritanspurse.org/occ or Operation Christmas Child boards on Pinterest for specific suggestions on what to pack according to gender and age for the boxes will be labeled.
Come and help a well worthwhile project!
