On Oct, 4 we began a new chapter at Faith Lutheran Church of Pierce, 611 S. Main Street, as we welcomed our new Pastor, Reverend Donna Lou Zipp and her husband, Rodney.
They moved from Rock Island, Texas, which is near Houston. Prior to that they lived in Seguin, which is near San Antonio.
Pastor Donna graduated with the Master of Divinity degree from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN in December of 2014 and was ordained July 27, 2014 at First Lutheran Church, El Campo, Texas where she served through 2017. Following, she served people of all ages and abilities in local schools and churches in Eagle Lake, Hallettsville, Yoakum, Bulverde and Inez, Texas. She is on the roster of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ and is a LCMC Certified Pastor and served on the Texas District Council from 2014-2017.
Prior to becoming a pastor, Pastor Donna received her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction—Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education from Southwest Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas. As a certified early childhood teacher, she has enjoyed teaching young children in Seguin and Eagle Lake School Districts and has served in local churches in intergenerational, children and youth ministry. A nationally certified Youth Minister, she has also served as a youth pastor in Seguin, Texas.
Pastor Donna is married to Rodney Zipp and they have five grown children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. “I look forward to developing many personal relationships and community partnerships as part of the Pierce community as Faith Lutheran Church actively helps meet local needs.
We are all called to love one another and support our neighbors with physical, as well as spiritual sustenance. Placing a high priority on and investing deeply in our families and young people with a sensitivity to the changing world around, is of the utmost importance,” says Pastor Donna. “I am particularly excited about supporting our local schools and am hopeful to be able to substitute teach very soon.”
Faith Lutheran Church of Pierce has been a part of the Clearwater County area since 1961 where the first families gathered for Bible study in local homes. The first service was held in the Historical Courthouse on Feb. 25, 1962. In 1967, property was bought and plans to build a new church building were made. Dedication of the new church was held on Oct. 29, 1967, where worshippers continue to gather to give thanks to and worship God every Sunday morning to this very day.
The community is invited to join us for a worship service of Praise and Thanksgiving and Pastor Donna’s Installation: Sunday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m.
Hope to see you all at Faith!
