Do you know what the Millennium is (Part Two)? Last week we studied and found that the millennium is simply a 1,000 year period that begins when Jesus comes again and this is the time of the first resurrection (1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 KJV). We also found that those who are “left behind” do not have a second chance because everything is burned up (1 Peter 3:10-11 KJV). It is after these events the millennium begins here on earth and in heaven. We’ll study what happens here on earth first.

The Bible says, “And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more.

The devil will be cast into “the bottomless pit.” This term simply refers to the condition of the earth after it is destroyed by fire when Jesus comes again as “it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty… to lay the land desolate” (Isaiah 13:6-9 KJV). In other words, it will be without form and void, just as it was at creation (Genesis 1:1-2 KJV).

The Bible says, “I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light…I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger. For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end” (Jeremiah 4:23-27 KJV).

Satan and his evil angels are left alone on a desolate earth for 1,000 years with no one to tempt, but that is not the “full end” (V27).
