Do you know who the sons of God are? Some believe that angels are the sons of God that married the daughters of men and had children with them and the children were giants and men of renown (Genesis6:2-4KJV). However, Jesus, speaking of those who are in the resurrection of life, “…they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven” (Luke20:34-35KJV). If angels do not marry in heaven, they will not marry on earth.
So who are the sons of God? The Bible says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John1:12 KJV).
This means you and me. As a matter of facts, John also says, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…Beloved, now are we the sons of God” (1John3:1-2KJV). Therefore, we don’t have to wait. We are sons now.
Paul affirms this when he said, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father” (Romans8:14-15KJV). What a privilege we have to be adopted as sons of God and “cry, Abba, Father.”
But what is even better is the fact that we are predestined for this privilege. The Bible says, “Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will” (Ephesians1:5 KJV).
As sons of God, we must receive Him, believe on His name and we must be led by the Spirit. All this is according to His will and we will live our life according to His will (Phillipians2:14-15KJV).
So who were the “sons of God” in Genesis Chapter 6? They were the sons of Seth, who begat Enos and “then began men to call upon the name of the Lord” (Genesis4:26KJV).
