Do you know there is a trial going on now and each of us is awaiting our final verdict (part 2)? Last week we found that there is a universal message that is to go to “every nation, and kindred, and tongue and people” (Revelation 14:6 KJV) and in the heart of God’s last-day message is the “everlasting gospel.”
What is the “everlasting gospel?” It is the good news about Jesus. It is the story of the cross. Jesus died for everyone so everyone could know this story and know Him. It is the story of Jesus’ love as the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8KJV). It is the story of His work as our High Priest (Hebrews 2:17; 4:14, 15; 9:11, 12KJV). It is the story of His forgiveness, His grace, and His mercy, and Atonement for our sins (Hebrews 13:12KJV; Romans 5:11KJV). The gospel is “the power of God unto salvation” (Romans 1:16KJV). It speaks of a love that transforms our lives and makes us into new creatures in Christ (2Corinthians 5:17KJV).
Revelation is an end time book and it tells us “the hour of his judgment is come” (Revelation 14:7KJV). Both Jesus and Paul talked about the judgment that was to be in the future (Matthew12:36KJV; Acts 24:25KJV). Revelation 14:7KJV is current tense for our day and takes place prior to Jesus’ second coming.
The Bible says two classes of people are developed before Jesus comes “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be” (Revelation 22:11-12KJV). Jesus is coming to give rewards according to man’s work so the judgment must precede His coming to determine what reward each person will receive when He comes. The destiny of all men and women must be decided before He returns.
The reason for this judgment is not because God does not know who is saved or lost. He certainly knows. But remember, a rebel angel has challenged God’s character. Lucifer has claimed God is unfair and unjust before the whole universe. The judgment reveals God’s character of love before the whole universe. So why will some be saved and some be lost?
