Do you know how deceitful the devil is (part7).
So far we’ve studied and found the Bible says we are a living soul (Genesis2:7KJV) and that when we die we return to dust (Job34:14-15KJV); that Jesus alone is immortal (1Timothy6:15-16KJV) and that we become immortal, like Him, at the resurrection when He comes again (1Thessalonians4:16KJV; 1Corinthians15:52-53KJV).
We also found that we wait for that change (Job14:14KJV). So where do we wait?
The Bible says, “As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness” (Psalms17:15KJV).
Awake? God told Moses that he would sleep with his fathers and Moses understood that to mean his death (Deuteronomy31:16, 29KJV).
Also, Jesus said that Lazarus was sleeping when referring to him being dead (John11:11-14KJV). He said the same of a ruler’s daughter (Matthew9:18-26KJV).
Lazarus was dead four days and the girl, perhaps hours, when He raised them from their sleep. However, neither gave an account of what happened while they were dead because neither went anywhere.
Why? Because the Bible says, “But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? …So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep” (Job14:10-12KJV).
Therefore, we sleep until Jesus comes again and the heavens be no more?
The Bible says, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise…” (2Peter3:10KJV). “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words” (1Thessalonians4:16-18KJV).
God doesn’t want us to fear death or to worry about our deceased loved ones. He comforts us with His Words of Truth.
