Do you know that God’s commandments are the best way of life? The Bible says, “But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you” (Jeremiah7:23KJV).
God has given us specific directions in every “thou shalt” and “thou shalt not.” Some may see these words as a bunch of rules or restrictions but they are really promises because He wants to save every one of us physically and spiritually.
The Bible says, “Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law. For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it” (Deuteronomy32:46-47KJV).
“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh (Proverbs4:20-22KJV).
See the promises of long life and good health. If we do the things He says to do and avoid the things He says don’t do, we shall live longer and healthier lives.
See also Deuteronomy 27-33 and Leviticus 11. Likewise, He promises us eternal life by obeying every “thou shalt” and “thou shalt not”.
The Bible says, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2Timothy3:15KJV).
“Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward” (Psalms19:11KJV).
Jesus is coming to “…reward every man according to his works” (Matthew16:27). Our works, based on our faith, (James2:22KJV) will determine our reward (Daniel12:1-3KJV).
If we choose our own way (2Tm3:1-5KJV; Gal5:19-21KJV), our reward is certain, as well.
