Orofino Junior High Boys Track Team competes at YMCA Middle School Invitational Track Meet

The Orofino Junior High 7th-8th Grade Boys track team finished off the 2019 track season by placing 3rd in the 7th-8th Grade boys division of the YMCA middle school invitational track meet held at Mountain View High School track in Meridian, Idaho on May 25. This meet required that you have qualifying marks/times to be able to participate in the meet. Orofino had 7 boy athletes that chose to participate in this meet and they were James Moore, Elijah Ortega, Seger Pettingill, Tucker Malloy, Sam Fisher, John Dafoe, and Alex Powers. Special thanks go out to all the family and friends who traveled to Meridian to support all the athletes in this special year ending track meet. Also, thank you’s go out to volunteers Steve and Joyce Nobles for helping coach the discus and shot put during the season and to Cindy Beardin who captures beautiful pictures of the team in action during the season’s track meets.

There were 38 teams participating and the final team scores were: Rigby 118.5, Sage Valley (Vallivue, Id) 95, Orofino 50, Carey 46.5, Kamiah 30, Kimberly 29, Rocky Mountain (Idaho Falls, Id) 26, Nampa Christian (Nampa, Id) 26, Brody Burch-Unattached 26, Raft River 23, Adrian, Or 23, Filer 20, Idaho City 17.5, Malad 17, Oakley 16, Mountain View (Blackfoot, Id) 15, Rockland 13, Cole Valley Christian (Meridian, Id) 12.5, South Boise 12, Victory Charter (Nampa, Id) 12, Salmon 10, Liberty Charter (Nampa) 9, Compass Charter (Meridian, Id) 7, Kody Biggs-Unattached 4, Kaden Hunsaker-Unattached 3, Glenns Ferry 3, Sandcreek (Idaho Falls, Id) 3, Highland-Craigmont 3, Heritage (Meridian) 3, Council 3, Greenleaf Academy (Greenleaf, Id) 2, Mason Rasmussen-Unattached 2, Camas County (Fairfield, Id) 2, Lighthouse Christian (Twin Falls, Id) 0, Jackson Allen-Unattached 0, Fremont (Kuna) 0, Kuna 0, and Snake River (Blackfoot, Id) 0.
