A special poem for
all Lu’s friends and loved ones…
“Today there is an
absence in our lives.
It doesn’t seem
real that she could be gone.
We can’t
understand why it had to be.
But God knows far
better than we.
She has beaten us
to that beautiful land.
She’s rejoicing
now as it says in God’s plan.
If she could

‘Don’t cry for me

Clifford “Cliff” E.
Gallaugher, 82, Peck
Clifford “Cliff” E.
Gallaugher, 82 of Peck, passed away on
Cliff served his
country, enlisting in the Air Force where he learned his skills as a
sheet metal worker and carpenter. He was honorably discharged in
1951. Following his discharge, Cliff met his wife June where they
married in
Those that knew
Cliff will always remember his dedication, entrepreneurial spirit,
loyalty to friends and family but most of all his work ethic.
His nickname as
the “Ornery Irishman” was fitting-there was no challenge too great
for him and we will remember him as one of the hardest working and
most independent men ever. He had a deep appreciation for area’s
forests, wildlife and most importantly, the people who shared his
love for the land and its resources.
During the heyday
of logging in the 60’s and 70’s Cliff and June fed breakfast, lunch
and dinner to hungry loggers as the owners of the Elk City Bar and
Grill. Cliff subsequently purchased and ran Bugle Point Outfitters
out of
The horses and
mules in his outfit worked equally as hard but were well cared for.
“No one eats until the stock is fed” was the standing order in the
outfit. Although he claimed that no one ever rode in the dark, there
are fond remembrances of being able to see nothing except the glow
of Cliff’s cigarette while following him down the trail as he rode
his favorite horse “Babe” after a long day of tending camps.
Later in life,
Cliff and June settled down and ran the Ho-Hum Motel in
Despite Cliff’s
ornery but loveable attitude, he was the kind of man that would give
the shirt off his back and jump at the chance to help out those in
need. In his “off time” Cliff continued to share his knowledge, love
of the back country, and anything else he had a mind to, with his
friends and family. There will always be a special place in our
hearts, our camps and every trail mile traveled dedicated to Cliff.
Cliff is survived
by his brother Harvey and Inez (Shultz) Gallaugher; nieces Marilyn,
Nancy and Pamela; his late brother John Gallaugher and his wife,
Patty and daughters; sisters MaryAnn (Gallaugher) Oliphant and sons
and daughters, Alice Dill and daughters; and also his long-time

After 68 years of marriage, devoted couple share eternal life
together
He was quiet and reserved. She was outgoing and very social.
He liked to work in his shop, while she loved to bake, prepare for
holidays and care for her plants. They met
shortly after high school in a soda shop where she worked. True love
crept into their hearts that day and they became inseparable. After 68
years of marriage, Lois Aliene Erno died and Harry Erno followed
just a few days later. It is said
in the Bible that when you die, you’re immediately in the presence
of Jesus. Some like to humorously think that when Ailene got up
there she said, ‘Where’s my husband?’ And Jesus said, ‘Just a
minute. I’m working on that.’ They
married during his enlistment in the Navy where he served his
country in the Pacific during WWII. He came back to her after the
war where he had earned four distinguished campaign medals,
including the American, Asiatic Pacific and National Defense
campaigns. She met him with embracing arms and with an increased
love that was unbreakable. Together,
they raised four children: Harry, Jeff, Debbie and Joe with only
four years separating the eldest from the youngest. They became
proud grandparents to six grandchildren: Haley, Blake, Jordyn, Cole,
Paige and Luke. Harry would
often tell his children how much he loved their mother and that no
matter what happened, she needs to be taken care of. Ailene
would often inform her children to always stay in touch and if you
didn’t call at least once a week, you would definitely hear about
it. Recent
years had brought increasing health problems to the couple. Both
suffered from congestive heart failure and when Lois had a stroke at
the age of 80, they left after 22 years the quiet little town of
Their
health continued to deteriorate to the point where they were
admitted to the hospital for the last time. It only makes sense that
on
The whole family
indicates that they are going to miss them very much, but that they
are glad that it happened the way that it did.
It is also only
fitting that their desire is to be buried together back in the town
of Peck where they will share with friends and family a graveside
service on Saturday, June 30 at 1 pm. at the Peck hillside cemetery. |

Bonnie Louise Pearsall Spencer, 93, Orofino
She was born
On
During the war,
they briefly lived in Vancouver, WA, while Chet worked in the
shipyard, but headed right back “home” as soon as they could.
Bonnie and Chet
moved to Orofino’s Riverside in 2001, and lived with their daughter,
Pat, after Chet had a stroke.
In 2011 she moved
to Brookside Landing in Orofino and has been there since.
Bonnie was a
wonderful cook and homemaker, never allowing a visitor to leave
without first being sufficiently fed. She loved to flower garden,
did beautiful needlework, raised fancy chickens, dogs, cats and
“mothered” any stray that happened by. It didn’t matter if they were
two or four legged, or flew.
Many trips to the
countryside for picnics or camping would find Chet digging up a
bucket of “good dirt” for his sweetie because it would “work in good
to their rocky hillside.”
In 1959, her first
grandchild was born. In all, she would have five grandchildren, 11
great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
In her 93+ years
she had witnessed many changes to family, the area, our country, and
technology. She was very fascinated with being able to talk with
grandchildren using the computer and actually seeing them talk back
to her via skype. She loved her many nieces and nephews and thought
of them equal to her grandchildren.
Bonnie got a kick
out of referring to herself as “living a ‘hunderd’ years.”
We will miss being
reminded to put our coats on, get our hands and feet warmed up, eat
something and to close the door because there is a draft. Lucky for
her the weather is perfect and the company lovely where her final
home is.
She was preceded
in death by her parents, Edgar Owen “Ned” Pearsall and Hester Ollie
Davenport, sister Eva Pearsall Stevens, son-in-law Bill Baldwin,
brothers-in-law Louie, Hank, John, and Evertt Spencer.
Survivors are
daughter Patricia (Baldwin) of Orofino, son Marvin Spencer of

Morgan Faith Keane,
8, Orofino
Morgan’s life
would seem short to many, but for those who were touched by her,
understood that the quality of existence far exceeds quantity of
time in which you live it. Her contagious smile and sparkling eyes
could melt the hearts of those around her and though she was small
in size she had a big voice.
She possessed
strength, perseverance, the ability to overcome incredible odds and
physical challenges. Her courage led us to believe that each day is
a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. She
enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She looked
forward to swimming and boating in the summer, roasting hot dogs and
trick or treating in the fall, making snowmen and sledding in the
winter, stomping puddles and celebrating her birthday in the spring.
Morgan loved
animals of any kind, but had a special spot in her heart for cats,
especially tigers. She was an amazing artist, loved school and was
eager to learn. She was very proud of her Honor Roll ribbon she
earned for the 2nd Quarter of 3rd grade. She
admired her older brother, Braeden and was a proud big sister to
Danica and Macy.
Morgan is
survived by her loving parents, Dan and Angela (Marvin) Keane;
Brother Braeden and Sisters Danica and Macy, all of Orofino. She is
also survived by Paternal Grandparents Peter and Karen Keane,
Centreville, VA; Maternal Grandparents Chris and Susie Marvin,
Orofino, and Tyler and Rosanna Kanetake, Kaneohe, HI.
Also,
Great-Grandparents Charles and Florence Ricci, Pompano Beach, FL;

too numerous to mention, that provided Morgan with love and dignity
in her life and also in her death.

Beatrice Johnson, 68, Weippe
She was born
She married
Thomas Lloyd Johnson
As a teenager,
Beatrice moved with her family from the railroad and farming
community of Eltopia, Wash., to Weippe, and then to the Winters
Creek area near Johnson Road. Bea remembered that their first
visitors were two Johnson brothers (Steve and Tommy) in an old car
that quickly got stuck in the deep snow! Everyone helped to push the
car out of the snowbank and friendships were formed.
Tommy and his
large family soon became regular visitors to the home on Winters
Creek. After Bea and Tommy were married, they made their home on
Johnson Road near the mill site. In this predominantly male
environment, Bea quickly became the matriarch of a large group of
young, rambunctious brothers. Throughout her life, she was
continually called on to support the family with their daily needs.
She could be counted on for a hot meal, clean clothes, bandages and
practical advice. She has been a sister, mother and grandmother to
many who extend far beyond her own family. She was our homemaker.
Later in life, as
the family grew up and moved away, Bea took a job with School
District No. 171 as a cook. She worked at both Timberline and the
Weippe School cafeterias for many years. She enjoyed her interaction
with the students and staff and had many wonderful stories about the
students, which she shared with her own family over the years.
She cared about
the students as if they were her own, just as she cared for many
children from the Weippe area throughout her life.
Beatrice was
preceded in death by her husband, Tommy; brother John Jacobson;
brothers-in-law Eddie Johnson and Jimmy Johnson; son-in-law Monte
Carlson; her parents and parents-in-law; an infant granddaughter;
and grandson Clay Hill.
She is survived
by daughters Darlene McCann and husband Daren of Lewiston, Shannon
Hill and husband Roy of Nezperce, Stephanie Wooderchak and husband
Jim of Waitsburg, Wash., and Jami Rushing and husband Dan of
Dongguan, China; five grandchildren, Jeff Carlson of Ogden, Utah,
Jason Carlson of Lewiston, and Scott Carlson of Portland, Ore.,
Allie Wooderchak of Lewiston and Dustin Wooderchak of Waitsburg,
Wash.; six great-grandchildren; and siblings Luanna McClure of
Anderson, Calif., Ned Jacobson of Davis, Calif., and Deloris
Robertson of Clarkston; and beloved nieces and nephews too many to
list.
The service will
be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Weippe
Wesleyan Church in Weippe. A graveside service will follow at the
