   Labor Day weekend was good for salmon in the Clearwater area. Morning hours when temperatures are low seem to yield the best fishing. In the Potlatch area, lighted lures are catching quite a few fish. Trout are abundant in the Lochsa and Clearwater Rivers. Bugs such as caddis are out - the fish are hungry.

   Fishing is slow in the Orofino area, but smallmouth bass are being caught on the Clearwater River. Bass fishing at Dworshak Reservoir is good.

   Grangeville anglers can catch bluegill in Winchester Lake, catfish in Tolo Lake; the trout are good in the rivers.
