Christmas news from Fraser
By Norma Brand
Today (Thursday) is New Year’s Eve, so before you get to hear about everyone’s Christmas news we want to say “Happy New Year” from everyone here in Fraser.
Linda Beard’s snow dance
The twelve inches of snow that accumulated on Dec. 14 had disappeared do to all the rain that fell. We wondered if there would be a white Christmas this year. Well, thanks to Linda Beard’s snow dance, we woke up to snow the day after the winter solstice. Our temperatures have remained in the 20 degree range so the ground is still white.
The skies were clear on Christmas day and we enjoyed a beautiful sunny day. What better weather could we ask for? Donna Brown reported her family took advantage of the snow and went sleigh riding behind the shed on the day after Christmas.
Clarabell Brown enjoys carolers
Clarabell Brown called with news that she had carolers come to her home the week before Christmas. At the time she didn’t know who they were, but said she really enjoyed the music. Clarabell was sorry she couldn’t come to the door, but she waved at them when they were leaving.
The Brands spoke to Blanche Kinney at the Weippe Library on Wednesday and she mentioned that her family had been caroling in Fraser and that they had stopped at Clarabell’s home. This was a real treat for Clarabell, and she sends her thanks to the family for thinking of her during the holiday season.
The Beards vacation
Mike Beard drove to Park City, UT for a ski vacation the week of Dec. 8. They had a great time and were able to ski six of the seven day they were there. Before returning home to Fraser he and Linda spent several days in Sun River, OR. Ask Linda about how the rainy weather affected her flight plans when she traveled to meet Mike.
Peggy and Reggie Ball enjoyed a visit from Reggie’s son Randy and his wife Carrie on Christmas Day.
Strong family have a full house for Christmas
Wanda and Dave Strong had a house full of company on Christmas Eve. Marie and Gerry Armitage, Wanda’s brother, Kirk Gangewer and his daughter, Jessica, Eric and Rhonda Stuart and their daughters, Alisha and Nicole and her son, Justin, Jody and Lydia Harris and their daughter Harley, and Scott and Loretta Musgrave joined the Strong’s for a potluck dinner, drinks and games. We hear Santa made his appearance before the night was over.
Jackson family Christmas
Donna and Bill Jackson spend Christmas Eve at the home of their granddaughter Heather Burnham and her husband Dan. They enjoyed visiting with their daughters Sherry Schlader and Dianna Funck and their husbands Larry and Bill, Rick and Janet Burnham and Heather and Dan’s neighbors Mike and Sandy and their daughter.
On Christmas Day they had and early dinner at their daughter Sherry’s home, then drove to Orofino to spend the rest of the day with their son Dennis, his friend Candy and her son, Austin.
Christmas with the Fowlers
Mark and Karen Fowler drove to Lewiston to spend Christmas Day with Mark’s mother Barbara. Their daughter Tracy and her children Darious, Conner and Kylee joined them for the evening.
On Christmas morning their son James drove out to the farm to spend some time with them, they had dinner with Rosena and Lanis Aultz. James has enlisted in the Army. Karen reported he left for Spokane on the morning of Monday, Dec. 28, where he will report for basic training. Good Luck James.
Oreta and Dale Stuart’s Christmas
Oreta and Dale Stuart’s family joined them at the ranch for Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day they all drove down to Orofino to spend the day with Lisa and Don Curnutt. The newest member of the family, Payton Kelly Kingen will have lots of pictures to remember her first Christmas; she was born on Nov. 24. Her grandmother, Carmen Minard and her husband Scott regrettably had to leave for Gresham, OR on Sunday morning.
Brown family Christmas
Donna and Danny Brown had Christmas Eve at their home. Everyone missed Kevin and Katy and the twins, Spencer and Natalie. This was their holiday to work so they spent the holidays at home in Kelso, WA with Katy’s parents. Danette McIntosh, her husband, Josh, and daughters Grace and Lydia arrived from Nampa on Sunday, Dec. 20.
Brad drove to Fraser on Wednesday, Dec. 23, to spend the holiday with the family. Cory and Michele and their daughters, Izzy, Caitlin, Abby, and Samantha, and Derek and Caresse and their daughter, Emma and sons, Parker and Nathan enjoyed visiting with the family.
On Christmas Day, the McIntosh family drove to Pierce to spend the day with Josh’s family and Derek and Caresse and their children spent the day with Caresse’s parents. The McIntosh’s returned to Nampa on Sunday, Dec. 27 much to the disappointment of their daughter, Grace. She wasn’t ready to stop playing with her cousins. Brad returned home on Monday, Dec. 28.
Marie Green enjoys Christmas with her daughter
Marie Green enjoyed a visit from her daughter, Wilma and her family. They arrived on Wednesday to spend and early Christmas with her and Mike, and returned to Lewiston on Thursday, Dec. 24.
The Brands had no plans for Christmas Eve, so they brought dinner over to the farm and shared it with Marie and Mike. Dinner consisted of lasagna, a salad, garlic bread and Steve had baked his family’s favorite recipe, Spicy Squash Pie, for dessert. Mike opened a bottle of red wine and everyone joined in on a toast to good friends.
McHone’s family Christmas
Sharon and Mike McHone’s son Jeff, his wife Kelli and their daughters Karli and Kayla spend Christmas with them. Mike’s mom, Ruth joined the family for a very thankful holiday celebration.
Work has begun on the damage caused by the electrical fire. Mark and Lisa Ponozzo and their carpet cleaning crew have removed most of the household furnishing for cleaning. Ronnie Larson and his workers are doing the house repairs.
The McHone’s want to express how grateful they are to still have a home, and to thank everyone for their help.
