Jim Crowley, Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections, gave an update on the program. Alana Curtis, Director, Juvenile Services was also present. The State monitor for grants reviewed the county program and warrants it is in compliance. The State Juvenile Corrections budget line for 2010 FY has been reduced by 6 percent. This reduced the State contribution to the County programs. The tobacco tax funds were used to increase the contribution to the counties. A new director has been installed at State Juvenile Justice program. The new director’s goal is to not reduce the county’s funding and try to keep the county programs whole.
The Board held a public hearing to consider increasing the solid waste fee per ton rate from $62 to $77 for contractors and out of county residents. The hearing was correctly published in the news paper notifying the public of the fee increase. There was no one from the public at the hearing. The Board approved and signed the Resolution # 09-12-18 increasing the solid waste fee for per ton rate to $77, to become effective Jan. 1, 2010. This will make the rates consistent with what in county residents are paying.
The Board approved and signed expense claims. They approved and signed Liquor License renewals for Log Inn and Tom’s Tavern. They also, approved the motion to grant the tax extension on MHPONOAH000030A until April 15 and approved the motion to cancel taxes in the amount of $349 on RP37N01W346001A.
The Waterways programs is applying for funding through Idaho Dept Parks and Recreation for $12,748.45 with match of $6,854.55 for a new motor and out drive for a patrol boat. The Board approved the grant application.
Rob Simon reported on the road crew work. The design for work is complete for the Grangemont Road project and should go out to bid next month. The crews are working on pothole patching.
Ernie Tuning, Fire District Commissioner, met with the Board regarding annexations into the Orofino Rural Fire District. Mr. Tuning said they have had interest from property owners in the Grangemont, Cascade Drive and Ahsahka areas to be annexed into the Orofino Rural Fire District. The Board approved and accepted the petition as presented by Ernie Tuning of the Orofino Rural Fire District and to enter an Order of Annexation and cause the same to be recorded so as to include the annexed property on the tax rolls as per Idaho Code.
There were two executive sessions held to discuss personnel, contract negotiations and indigent matters. Present for the meeting was Chairman Don Ebert and Commissioners Stan Leach and John Allen.
