Fish and Game seeks hunter comments on trophy species seasons

   Lewiston - The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) wants to hear from hunters about proposed changes to the 2011-2012 moose, mountain goat and bighorn sheep seasons.  

   Hunters can visit with Department biologists concerning the proposed season changes and provide their written comments by attending an Open House meeting Jan. 11, 2011, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lewiston IDFG office, 3316 16th Street. 

   Proposed changes for the Clearwater Region include:

·   Combine moose Hunt Areas 15-1, 15-2, 15-3 and 15-4 into one unit-wide hunt along with corresponding decreasing permit numbers from 24 to 8. 

   Reinstitute the Unit 10/12 mountain goat hunt that was Hunt Area 12 with two tags, using the same hunt area as in 1996.

   No proposed season changes for bighorn sheep.

   The deadline for comments is Jan. 14, 2011.

   All comments will be summarized and provided to the Idaho Fish and Game Commission for their review prior to their January 26-28 meeting in Boise.
