Bobbie Knapp is back at Sunset Mart on Riverside where she began working eight years ago. A retirement party was held for Shirley Dennison, who has been managing the store.

Although Carol Dugger is a new teacher at Orofino Junior High, she has lived in Orofino all her life. When she graduated from high school the current junior high building housed both the junior and senior high school. She will be teaching eighth grade literature and history and seventh grade social studies.
Kelly Bartman has been chosen a princess for the 1990 Lewiston Roundup. She is the daughter of Emmett and Janice Bartman of Peck.
Retirement observance is scheduled at the Orofino Builders Supply for Lowell Dick Bashaw. Dick began work at Crockett's Hardware in 1951 and moved with them to the present position at Orofino Builders Supply.
Dawn Arave and Lyle Erlewine were united in marriage Dec. 2 at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Arave.
Pvt. Rebekah Snyder has completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Snyder is the daughter of Gordon and Judy Snyder of Weippe and is a 1989 graduated of Timberline High School.

Jean Turcott, a Pierce area housewife, has a new model 70 Winchester 30-06 rifle. She won the new weapon for killing the biggest animal in the Whitepine Lions Club’s Whitetail deer contest this fall. She bagged the large animal while hunting on Texas Ridge and it field dressed at 230 pounds.

County road crews worked to open up traffic on Eureka Ridge, Upper Fords Creek and Wells Bench roads as well as trying to restore traffic to Elk Creek.
Cooler temperatures and clearing skies began to slow the stream flow. Andy Konkol used a shovel to clear debris from his sawmill bridge as were lapped over timbers.

Temperatures climbed back above freezing after the coldest spell in two years and mercury dropped to two above.
A total of 418 attended the second and final diphtheria clinic held at the Clearwater County Health Unit.

Mary Lucas and Marlene Grimm attended the Hilly Dance at the University of Idaho. They spent the night with Susan Bacharach.
Despite the substantial reductions brought about by the 1954 rating formula in the assessment of lumber, logs, and cattle, Clearwater County’s assessed value increased from $9,159,701 in 1953 to $9,332,800 in 1954 according to figures announced by the county assessor.

December snow has added 2.55 of an inch of moisture to Orofino precipitation totals brining the total rainfall to 20.19 inches.
Despite persistent snows that have brought slush and ice over the holidays, Orofino’s rainfall totals for the month show less than 2.98 inches which is rated as normal by forest service measurements.
Forest officials are setting up a new rock crushing project near Weippe to stock pile 5000 yards of gravel for improvements on the Musselshell road.

Nearly 46,000 acres of land in Latah and Clearwater counties will be set aside as the first reforestation area under Idaho’s new law. The new reforestation area consists of 32,408.31 acres in Clearwater County.
