Local hygienist and team travel to Bucharest

You may remember Monique Judkins as the local Dental Hygienist employed with Gentle Family Dentistry. She and her husband, Don, headed up a team of 14 people who went to Bucharest, Romania last May.

While there they worked with an orphanage of 65 children doing crafts, games and providing much needed dental work. In addition, the team helped the Mather family, who are Christian missionaries that have lived there for the past eight years. Side by side they worked at a summer camp preparing it for the same orphans who attend weeklong camps.

Hope House

This year they are going to support “Hope House,” an orphanage on the island of Mindanao. While there, in addition to the dental services, they will be focusing on a few service projects. The main project will be digging a ditch around the orphanage during the year.

Other projects will be to repaint the whole orphanage which, according to the director, has needed to be done but they have not had the funds to do so. The team will be in the Philippines for two weeks doing whatever is needed. The team will leave April 21.

Fundraisers

A local fundraiser, headed by Monique, will be held again as a way to help the team raise money for their trip to the orphanage in the Philippines. The group is going to Spokane late on Sunday, Dec. 6 to pick up 80 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts to be delivered hot and fresh on Monday, Dec. 7.

On Monday only, Dec. 7, Just Brew It on Hwy 12, at Canoe Camp, will also be serving these wonderful donuts. The donuts will only be 75 cents with purchase of a cup of coffee.

If you are interested in receiving a dozen donuts call Monique at 208-874-3781 and reserve a dozen for your employees or your family.

Other fundraisers include a beef raffle. The Tuning family of Kamiah has generously donated a beef and the team will pick two winners. Once your name has been chosen, all you have to do is call the butcher and tell him how you want it cut…all expenses are paid!

Tickets are available at Gentle Family Dentistry or by calling Monique at 208-874-3781. A pack of 15 tickets is just $20. (Not a bad price for half a beef).

Last year’s team was very grateful for all the support they received last year, they really felt blessed by all the help, without which they would have been able to go. “I feel very honored to be able to represent Christ in this way”, say Monique “and each one of you that made it possible was with me in my heart and hands the whole time!”

If you wish to support the team financially you can mail your donation to Monique Judkins at P.O. Box 742, Orofino, ID 83544.
