Wolf hunt quota reached for Dworshak-Elk City Zone

Wolf hunting closed Nov. 17, for the Dworshak-Elk City Zone. The harvest of 18 wolves, for that area has been met. Idaho Fish and Game officials are reminding wolf hunters to check the harvest limit in the wolf hunting zones in which they intend to hunt before going out.

Harvest limits were set in 12 zones throughout the state. When the limit for that zone is reached, or when the statewide limit of 220 wolves is reached, the season is closed. To date, 108 wolves have been taken in Idaho.

The big game management units affected are: 10A, 14, 15, and 16, a narrow area that stretches from the Salmon River to the divide point between the North Fork of the Clearwater River and the St. Joe River. The McCall-Weiser Zone in west central Idaho, and the Upper Snake Zone in eastern Idaho closed Nov. 2.

The wolf harvest limit in the Palouse-Hells Canyon Zone has nearly been reached. All other wolf hunting zones in the state remain open.
