Festival of Trees
Be sure to mark your calendar for one of the social highlights of the year. Many decorated trees, wreaths, gift baskets and stockings are already on display at the Pierce Community Center. It’s a great place for unique Christmas gifts.
The preview begins at 6 p.m. and the auction is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Throughout the evening there’s free refreshments and musical entertainment for everyone, and crafts for the children
Something new this year is bring a can of food to be donated to the Lion’s Club for their Christmas Food Baskets and you will receive a $5 bidding coupon.
This event is sponsored by the Pierce Gem Team and Potlatch Corporation. All items auctioned have been decorated and donated by local businesses, organizations and individuals. All proceeds will be used for local community projects.
Winter Festival
Planning for the 2010 Pierce Winter Festival is underway. This year’s event promises to be even more exciting. Anyone interested in helping, the next planning meeting is Wednesday, Dec. 2, 6 p.m. at the Pierce Community Center.
"Dinner’s on Us"
Timberline Schools will be hosting "Dinner’s on Us" at the Timberline Schools cafeteria. The community is invited to attend the chili supper served with cornbread and dessert from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
The dinner will be followed by Idaho Drug Free Youth’s "Eye to Eye" Power Point presentation and panel discussion by youth and adults addressing and discussing issues surrounding substance abuse.
Recreation maps
The new Pierce-Weippe Chamber of Commerce Recreation Map is available for distribution. Businesses or individuals can call 464-2171 or pick up copies at The Outback, A Blue Moose Mercantile or the Weippe Discovery Center.
