CLEARWATER TRIBUNE HOME

An old sheepherder once said to me, as I was complaining  how hard it is to move, “Movin’ ain’t haaard; jus poour water on the faaar and call the dogs.” Funny, how sayings like that stay with us long after that person is gone.

Cloann McNall’s father used to tell her, “Don’t wish your youth away, Sis.”

Nellie Scoles, of Orofino, remembers this little rhyme her parents told her: “Sing at the table, whistle in bed. The devil will get you when you’re dead.”

Elizabeth Morgan’s father told her, “Little girls should be seen and not heard.”

And they wonder where our self-esteem issues come from. . .

If you have a funny or memorable saying your parents taught you, we would like to hear it. You may send submissions to our email: cleartribreporter@cebridge.net or drop one off at the office. Each submission must include your name and the city in which you live.
