Thank you U.S. Forest Service
I was invited to speak to the staff of the U.S. Forest Service last Friday. Some of the employees couldn’t attend but they donated toys, cat & dog food and litter. We thank you very much; all will be put to good use.
It’s very refreshing to share our passion for animals with people. Sarah Campbell joined me to pass out information sheets on what we do. Sarah aspires to become a veterinarian. She is a student at Orofino High School and plays two sports. In her spare time Sarah loves to help walk dogs for us. Her enthusiasm is very much appreciated.
I shared with everyone that we not only take in stray and abandoned or surrendered animals and adopt them, but also provide low cost neuter and spay for cats and dogs. We are seeing the results of our aggressive spay/neuter program.
There are still a lot of animals to be done but the numbers have been steadily decreasing in our area.
At the beginning of the discussion there was a “celebrity pet guess quiz”. The 1st place prize winner was Robin Harbaugh. She won a beautiful cloth covered gallon container of M&Ms.
There was a tie for 2nd place by Bev Yelczyn and Leanne Wilson. Bev & Leanne won a theater tin with candy and popcorn.
I really enjoyed the question and answer period. It gave me a chance to let
everyone ask what they didn’t know about us. Thank you for the wonderful posters
introducing us and what we can use. We were fortunate to share our passions and
goals with these great folks.
Found Thursday, 11/19 on Hwy 12 at Tom’s Auto. Female, medium sized dog wearing a silver choke chain. NO PET ID. Please call if you know the owner of this dog.
Free Spay or Neuter of Pitbull puppies 6 months or younger
In an effort to reduce over population we are again offering free spay or neuter of Pitbull puppies six months or younger. If you have a Pitbull puppy or know of anyone who owns one please pass this information on. We spay & neuter owned dogs & cats whenever possible. The Pitbull is a wonderful breed but like all breeds needs to be altered. All dogs and cats make better pets when they are altered. Please call 476-9823.
Barn buddies:
We are extending date of cat trapping
We will be extending our trapping date of the feral cats located by the Methodist Church and Museum Annex on Johnson Ave. We need to have homes for these cats the day they are spayed/neutered and vaccinated. We will trap as we get homes for these adult cats, and we will let you know when all adult cats have been re-homed.
Until then, we recommend keeping your own cats inside at night, as we don’t want to catch any owned cats. If you have any questions you may call 476-9823. We are continuing to take kittens out; they must be removed first so they can be cared for.
The adult cats will then be taken. We’re in search of barn homes for the adult cats. We will spay/neuter and vaccinate them. A barn cat will need to be fed and watered. They are great mousers!
We want to place them and let them live out their natural lives. If you could adopt one or two of these adult cats, please call 476-9823.
Our policy on strays
All stray dogs and cats are vaccinated upon arrival for their safety and the safety of the other dogs and cats. They are also neutered and spayed on the sixth (6) day. All costs are the responsibility of the owner claiming the dog. Strays are held for five (5) days and then are for adoption.

If you find a stray dog, please contain the dog or cat, if you feel it is safe to do so, and then call. Many times I get a call from someone that has a stray but by the time I get there the person calling says the dog ran off. Please contain in a yard or tie the dog until I get there. We want to keep these poor dogs safe and either find their owners or get them a wonderful lifetime home.
All stray dogs and cats are vaccinated and wormed upon arrival for their safety and the safety of the other dogs and cats. They are also neutered and spayed after a five (5) day waiting period.
