The past week has been a busy one for the Fraser Community. Both Donna Bonner and Donna Brown gave parties at their homes. On Thursday, Nov. 5, Donna BONNER had a Tupperware Party at her home on Cottonwood Road. It was reported in the last issue of the Clearwater Tribune that Donna Brown was the hostess for both the Tupperware and the Pampered Chef parties. This was a transcription error, and thankfully everyone who wanted to purchase Tupperware did attend the right party. When Norma arrived, the two Donna’s expressed their surprise about the mix up, and everyone enjoyed a good laugh.
The Clearwater Power Company held their 72nd Annual Meeting on Friday, Nov. 6. Several hilltop residents attended the dinner and the meeting, which was held at the Red Lion Seaport Club in Lewiston. Ed and Judy Berreth won one of the many door prizes. During dinner the Brands enjoyed visiting with six members of the Smith family from Park, ID. The meeting was well attended. Loretta Musgrave, Carl Bonner and Howard and Joyce Bird were seated with other members of the co-op. During the business meeting, General Manager, Dave Hagen reported there would be a rate increase this year. Bonneville Power increased their rates by 7% on Oct., 1, 2009. The last rate increase was in 2003. He reported our power company and their employees would continue to do everything possible to control costs.
Creative Gifts held their annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, Nov. 7. Bev Bailey reported they had a wonderful turn out. Tickets for door prizes were drawn every hour. Winners were; Howard Bird, Stephanie Bennett, Dusti Howell and Marie Armitage. The grand prizewinner was John Allen. Evergreen wreaths are available and if you are looking for family gifts there is a good supply of Columbia and Carhartt clothing to choose from. Bev sends her thanks to everyone who took time to attend.
Shelby Bird’s birthday was on Nov. 9, but she celebrated it on Saturday, Nov. 7. During the morning she attended the Creative Gifts Holiday Open House with her grandparents, Howard and Joyce Bird. Later on they returned home to have her party and cake and ice cream with her parents, her brother Cody, grandparents Margo and Evan Anderson from Walla Walla, WA, and Debbie Phillips. Shelby is now eight years old and is in second grade at Timberline Schools.
Janet Kingen reported she had more surgery on her back on Oct. 12. She had scar tissue removed and is feeling much better. Pete celebrated his birthday on Oct. 30 and Janet’s birthday was on Nov. 1. They celebrated by enjoying a tasty meal at Jilinda’s Restaurant near Kamiah. Janet, your birthday wasn’t listed on the community calendar, so we didn’t get to wish you a Happy Birthday this year.
Janet Kingen reported that Barbara Carr had surgery on her neck on Oct. 27, and that she is home recuperating. We wish Barbara a speedy recovery.
Clarabell Brown’s daughter, Nancy Borders and her husband Ed came for a visit on Sunday, Marie and Mike Green were invited to have lunch with them.
The Timberline Schools cheerleaders are doing a fundraiser so they will have the funds to enter competitions. Let’s help them out when they stop by with their order blanks for goodies, coffee, or cheesecake.
Sherry Schlader will have an Open House at her store in Weippe on Dec. 4 and 5. Friday, Dec. 4 she will be open from 10 a.m – 5 p.m. and on Saturday store hours are from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. There will be baked goodies to sample while you shop, Sherry reported the wonderful elves have been busy in their kitchens again this year.
Pierce Festival of Trees will be held at the Community Center on Dec. 4. Viewing for the auction will start at 6 p.m. Children are welcome, there will be crafts for them during the auction.
Peggy and Reggie Ball enjoyed a visit from Reggie’s cousin, Tom Snyder and his friend Yvonne Hjelm on Sunday.
Donna and Danny Brown’s daughter Danette McIntosh, her husband Josh, and their two daughters, Grace and Lydia drove to Fraser from Nampa. Their son Brad also spent the weekend at the farm. Danette and Lydia attended the Pampered Chef party while Josh and Brad watched football in the poolroom and Grace entertained a friend. Deidre Jenkins demonstrated how easy it is to assembly a delicious dessert while she talked about the products, and of course everyone was encouraged to sample the results.
Cheryl Stenzel invited everyone to attend an “in store book signing” for author Lynnette Bonner. Lynnette was raised in Africa as a child, when she grew up she married a young man from Pierce named Marty Bonner. The signing will be held in Lewiston, at the Christian Gift Center, 914 21st Street, on Nov. 28 from 1-3 p.m. The name of the book is Rocky Mountain Oasis, a historical novel about Pierce. The towns of Greer and the settlement of Fraser are mentioned in the story. At the time the story takes place, Wellington Landon had not platted the town of Weippe, so it does not appear in the book.
