Three-year-old girl dies in Weippe fire
A structure fire around 1:15 p.m. Monday at 121 Lombard Road near Weippe resulted in the death of a three-year-old girl, Feather Proctor. The Weippe Fire Department responded to the call. and reports the mobile home structure was fully engulfed in flames and the three-year-old was still in the home.
Upon the fire department's arrival it was determined that Fawn Robles, 40, grandmother of the child, and a 14-month-old toddler, Faith Proctor, were next door.
Robles was able to get the toddler, Faith, out of the house and returned to get the three-year-old, Feather, but was unable to find her.
The fire was extinguished and the body of the three-year-old was located in the house. The Clearwater County Coroner’s office responded to the scene.
The 14-month-old was treated and released from Clearwater Valley Hospital. Robles was transported by helicopter to Deanconess Medical Center in Spokane for further treatment. She is being treated in the hospital’s respiratory unit.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by a Lewiston fire marshal and the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Department. Clearwater County Sheriff Chris Goetz stated no foul play is suspected.
The Weippe Ambulance responded to the scene.
