Fate of
Dworshak State Park threatened
An emergency strategy meeting was called Monday, at the Clearwater
County Commissioners’ office in Orofino to determine the future and
viability of Dworshak State Park and the possibility of closure next
spring.

to decide on bond for new Peck Fire Station
A General Obligation Bond of $177,100 has been applied for by the
Big Canyon Fire District, which serves Peck to the Clearwater County
line west to Lenore.

A fundraiser to benefit flood victims in the Philippines will be
held this Saturday, Oct. 31, Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the

Parking
regulations bring many complaints
Chief of Police, Jeff Wilson, reported that the new traffic
ordinance is being enforced. He stated that the issue of people
parking vehicles (including boats and campers) on the wrong side of
the street has, “stirred the pot.”

Joint
School District #171 holds meeting
Three people came from the state level to review the federal
programs. They were impressed with faculty and staff. There were six
“findings” and five of those included more parent involvement which
is being worked on at this time. Faculty and staff were thanked for
doing such a fine job.

Commissioner updates chamber
The guest speaker was John Allen, who is a resident of Orofino for
40 years, and a County Commissioner for three years. He serves on
the Public Health Board and Region I Mental Health Board. He is up
for reelection in 2010.
